Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX Fundamentals

The Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX Fundamentals course is designed to provide a good working knowledge of iFIX. Valuable hands-on lab exercises are provided to guide students through the building and modification of the HMI/SCADA application.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for process, automation, or instrumentation engineers and system integrators who will be developing, configuring, and using applications on an iFIX system.

Are there any prerequisites?

Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows 2000, and/or Windows XP operating systems.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this Course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand communication between iFIX SCADA Servers and iFIX iClient nodes.
  • Configure iFIX nodes using the System Configuration Utility.
  • Configure I/O Drivers to communicate with iFIX.
  • Create and modify standard Process Database tags.
  • Create graphic screens (pictures) using a wide variety of object types and animations.
  • Design and build a picture navigation strategy.
  • Create basic scripts using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • Configure alarming and create screens to monitor and acknowledge alarms.
  • Use trending to monitor both real-time and historical data.
  • Design and build a system-wide security strategy.
  • Use a variety of iFIX Utilities and Operating System administrative options to troubleshoot project or system process faults.

Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX Advanced

The Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX Advanced course is designed to pick up where the iFIX Fundamentals course ends. The course is intended to provide the student a base level of proficiency using some of the product's more advanced features. The student will become familiar with some of the tools and concepts available for optimizing and troubleshooting iFIX.

Who should attend?

This course is principally designed for process, automation, or instrumentation engineers and system integrators who will be developing, configuring, and using applications created with iFIX.

Are there any prerequisites?

Completion of Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX Fundamentals course (44A728312-154) is a must! Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, and/or Windows XP operating systems. Familiarity with relational databases and VBA would be helpful, but not required.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this Course, you should be able to:

  • Integrate iFIX with OPC servers and Clients
  • Advanced configuration with Database Blocks
  • Integrate iFIX with Proficy Historian
  • Integrate iFIX with Relational Databases (RDBs)
  • Use VisiconX to build graphical RDB tools for users
  • Extend iFIX Alarm systems to RDBs and Proficy Historian
  • Work with Charts and Chart Groups
  • Master Dynamo creation and maintenance
  • Work with ActiveX components
  • Develop schedules to automate workflows and processes
  • Drive reports with iFIX
  • Configure Server Fail-over and Redundancy
  • Prepare iFIX for use with Terminal Server

Proficy Historian Development

The Proficy Historian Development course is designed to provide the student with a good working knowledge of Proficy Historian. It is intended for new users, however, the material in this course assumes prior knowledge of GE Intelligent Platforms software. The course includes lab time for configuring and applying the Proficy Historian software to process applications.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for process, automation, or instrumentation engineers and system integrators who will be developing, configuring, and using applications on a Proficy Historian system.

Are there any prerequisites?

Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, and/or Windows XP operating systems.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this Course, you should be able to:
  • Understand architecture communication between Proficy Historian Servers and iHistorian Client nodes
  • Configure Proficy Historian nodes using the Proficy Historian Administrator
  • Configure Data Collectors, including iFIX Collector, OPC Collector, and File Collector
  • Manage and configure archives
  • View collected data using the Excel Add-In Client
  • Configure the OLE DB Provider
  • Configure the Calculation Collector and the Server-to-Server Collector
  • Design and build an Proficy Historian security strategy
  • Use a variety of utilities and Operating System administrative options to troubleshoot
  • Use the Proficy Historian SDK to enhance an iHistorian application

Proficy Portal Fundamentals / RTIP Development

The Proficy Fundamentals course is designed to provide the student with a good working knowledge of RTIP. The course includes lab time for configuring and applying the infoAgent software to process applications.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for process, automation, or instrumentation engineers, system integrators and any other information technology (IT) professionals who will be developing, configuring, and using RTIP applications.

Are there any prerequisites?

Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, and/or Windows XP operating systems.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this Course, you should be able to:
  • Understand architecture and communication between the RTIP Server and Clients
  • Install and configure an RTIP Server, including the configuring and building a RTIP security strategy
  • Create RTIP displays using basic graphic objects, datalinks, grids, form components, event charts, and XY charts
  • Connect to and retrieve data from a variety of data sources
